Weather changes, cycling and fibromyalgia

So, here’s from my reading on the topic, I THINK I get it! LOL 😀 I had to read and re-read so much to get it into my little brain! haha!!

Here’s an excellent quote from Buzzle (click link to read the rest of the article): http://www.buzzle.com/articles/how-to-relieve-barometric-pressure-headaches.html

…triggered by change in weather conditions like high or low temperature or humidity, cloudy skies, etc. In such conditions, the atmospheric air pressure changes suddenly, which in turn alters the level of oxygen in the human body. As a result, the blood vessels undergo expansion or contraction in an effort to adjust with the lowered level of oxygen. This change in the diameter of the blood vessels is often held responsible for a barometric pressure headache.

So for a person with Fibromyalgia, the yucky feelings come when there is a CHANGE in air pressure. Kinda like when you go up in an airplane, you feel the change.

When a high pressure system (Barometric pressure) moves in, whether it’s hot or cold in temperature, the higher pressure will put pressure on your cells, causing some of the fluids to be squeezed out, actually making you feel a bit better. kinda confusing I know! 😛

When the low pressure system moves in, there is LESS pressure on your cells and so extra fluid can accumulate making you feel pretty yucky. So it’s like pressure from inflammation- causes discomfort and pain. Less pressure on nerves etc is always a good thing! 🙂

One thing I do in the meantime, when it’s winter and I feel cold ALL THE TIME,  is go to the tanning beds. No idea why it helps, but for me it does! Check out the link for more on that topic, and PLEASE do not overdo the tanning, skin cancer is NOT worth it!

When you are on the Guaifenesin Protocol, it‘s the same thing- you are still affected by these changes, until your symptoms are completely reversed or close to it! But there IS light at the end of the tunnel! One day it won’t matter what kind of weather we have going on, you are going to feel AWESOME! YAY!! Thank you to Dr St Amand!! 🙂
