Toothpaste and Mouthwash DIY (Salicylate Free)

Want to try saving a couple $$ on toothpaste and mouthwash? try making your own!

Milk of magnesia is supposed to be excellent for teeth and rebuilding enamel and even whitening. Haven’t tried it yet but totally going to!

Instructions for Toothpaste:

Stir equal parts Baking soda, salt and Xylitol (Excellent for teeth and gums). You want to grind your Xylitol and salt to a powder for this 🙂

I have heard people say they have re-built their enamel with this concoction, not sure how I believe THAT, but I do know that my teeth have never felt nicer than when I was using it!

**Update: I just found a cool recipe with bentonite clay that is supposed to be amazing for your teeth! Check out this link for more info.

Try the recipe inspired by Keeper of the Home. But make sure to NOT use boiling water, totally molded in 3 days! had to toss the whole works!

Aug 8 2014 My Clay toothpaste:

1/4 cup bentonite clay

1 Tbsp baking Soda

3 Tbsp xylitol (ground to powder using coffee grinder)

1/4 tsp seasalt (ground to powder using coffee grinder)

carefully stir above together and keep in jar with tight lid.

scoop 1 Tbsp dry ingredients with 1/2 tsp Trace Minerals oil and 1/2 tsp emu oil. carefully stir together. That lasted me about 10 days. 🙂

Here’s an easy Mouthwash: Half water, half hydrogen peroxide. there’s no flavor and it dosn’t go rancid, and totally helps your teeth and gums, not to mention helps to whiten! 😀

How to make Xylitol Mouthwash:

Remember to get flavoring agents that are not natural essential oils(get imitation types)Or skip flavors

Instructions for mouth wash:

Use three cups of distilled water. Distilled water is preferable to ordinary tap water because it does not contain any impurities.

Add 1 teaspoon Xylitol (more or less to taste) and stir to dissolve completely.

Add flavoring agent for taste.

Pour the xylitol mouthwash into a bottle and cap tightly. Use it as often as you like as a healthy refreshing mouthwash. Store the unused portion in a cool location.

You can also buy sal-free toothpaste! Check out this post for more info: Sal-Free Toothpaste and mouthwash
