Did you know that tomorrow is Fibromyalgia Awareness Day? Well, it’s so important because WAY more people have fibro than you know. And the saddest part is all those who are just told that the pain and fatigue, etc are all in their heads.
We need more awareness so people can be more supportive and kind with the people they know who have it.
I have fibromyalgia and I’m not ashamed to say so. It is a really difficult disease to have. And I want to share why in the hopes that you can share this with someone you know, or everyone you know!
One of the hardest things about fibro is that it’s invisible. You don’t have a huge hole in your head for everyone to see and feel sorry for you. You take a shower, change out of your sweatpants that you pretty much live in, put your makeup on, paste a smile on your face and attack your to-do list. 30 mins later, you crash on the couch for the rest of the day.
Lol, that is one of the harder cases and certainly was me only a few years ago. Now I have enough energy to do a few hours of work everyday and I don’t pay for it later 🙂 Thanks to the Guaifenesin Protocol and this book I am showing. 🙂
Just remember this when someone admits they have fibro:
It was HARD for them to admit because of how many times people have scoffed at them for having a disease they believe is all in their head.
They don’t expect you to understand. They DO expect your understanding and grace. Esp if they have forgotten something… again.
They are trying their hardest to LOOK healthy, no matter how rotten they feel.
They will often totally forget what you’ve talked about. Within minutes. Or even mid-sentence.
So! That said! Take this opportunity to show someone you love them. That you care no matter how well they remember things that are important to you. Bring them a meal or offer to clean their bathroom or kitchen! BEST. GIFT. EVER! <3
So, this Fibromyalgia Awareness Day, share some info with your friends and family. Share, Post, Tweet, etc! Show your support and make a difference!
