If you are not progressing as you should on the Guaifenesin protocol to treat your fibromyalgia, you might want to try a blocking test!
What this does is to test if you are blocking on Salicylates somewhere so you can cut it out and get back to clearing again! 🙂
Blocking tests are not totally accurate, especially if you are still in the beginning stages of finding your clearing dose and beginning to clear. It takes a while to know what clearing feels like to be able to tell the difference when you’re blocking. So your first year on the protocol, this test won’t really help you. It also won’t help you if you are far along in your clearing so that you wouldn’t get an increase in symptoms because you barely have any clearing left to do. 🙂
First, try to see if you can find any salicylates hidden in your products. You can cut back to the bare minimum first, then slowly add in makeup, etc, one at a time every few days. Make sure to keep a detailed symptom journal during this time to see if there’s any changes.
Claudia Merek, Co-author with Dr St Amand of “What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Fibromyalgia.” gives a detailed step-by-step guide on blocking tests on her website.
I have a couple posts on blocking: what it is, what it feels like, and blocking parties. Check those out for more info too!

So now I will go home and do a “blocking test.” I will use every product I currently use for 2 days then I will double my dose of Guai for two days (gulp). If I don’t get slammed with clear symptoms this is most likely a blocking thing. If I do get slammed then I am not blocking.
Easy peasy? Yep, I know! Try to find a mapper if you are concerned that you are not clearing. This is your health we’re talking about, and SO worth every penny! Find a support group to help walk you through this and look at your products with you too! And hang in there, don’t give up! This protocol WORKS if you do it right! <3
