Progress report by Elizabeth on the Guaifenesin Protocol

Dec 1 2016. Elizabeth is a dear friend of mine with Fibromyalgia who has been on the Guaifenesin protocol for several years now and doing so well she is in nursing school and wants to use her practice to help people with Fibromyalgia! SO awesome!! 🙂 She shared her story with my support group today and she willingly allowed me to share it here too!

Thank you sweet friend! <3

“Before the protocol I could barely go from bed to couch and take care of my kids. I was in horrible pain 24 hours a day, which meant I was constantly exhausted. I lived a “crunchy granola mom life” I treated my kids with oils, herbals, and homeopathy. I only used allopathic medicine when those did not resolve the issues…

elizabeth-cookieThen the mild symptoms I had all my life exploded into a downward spiral and I couldn’t play with my kids at the park. I used to spend the whole day walking our trails or going to the zoo with my kids. I was sidelined.

I went to multiple doctors who all told me the same thing: fibromyalgia– here’s some pills. Learn to accept it. I tried everything natural I could find, every supplement and nothing was helping. It was putting a band-aid on a 12 inch gash. I finally conceded to the meds. Morphine actually took the pain away and I could function well- but it stole my memories. Those 18 months of life are just a hazy blur. Then I stopped that because being in pain was better than not remembering my kids growing up. I started trying all those meds to get relief. Some had worse side effects than others.

The last straw was a drug combination that could have killed me, my daughter and anyone else that was on the road that day. I immediately did the one thing health care providers say not to do. I turned to social media. I liked dozens of Facebook groups. I started looking for a group of people doing something that was getting them better. If the group was just people commiserating about how hard this is, it was gone.

Then I came across a page where I met Christine Mitchell Mann. (that’s me!! :D) She said to get the book, I’ll help you figure it out. So I started digging and digging. I didn’t want yet another thing that didn’t work or made things even worse. I had even gotten to the point where I was researching ketamine coma- scary dangerous, but I was THAT desperate. IF the Guaifenesin protocol didn’t work, that was my “next thing.” A trip to Mexico for a scary treatment that could take my life, but I was so over suffering.

Jump forward to where I am now with the Guaifenesin protocol: The last two school years I went to college full time and worked part time. This year I started my nursing program. I can workout for an hour at a time. I can keep up with my granddaughter. I can tend my garden, sew and keep house. I can be on Christine’s support group to help others get well too. I have some other conditions that I still deal with symptoms from, but I am not just struggling for survival. I am living.

The Guaifenesin protocol isn’t easy, and some days during that first year of clearing out deposits were really hard. But it gets better, the improvements come, sometimes slowly and then a hard clearing cycle will remind us we’re not done getting better. Then those good moments turn into good hours and days, and weeks… Soon the only thing that is left is a journal of how far you’ve come and how much you have gained. It does happen. It just takes time.

I admin here (on Fibro Buddies on Guaifenesin Protocol) because I know this treatment works. I know how hard it is and I know we can’t do this alone. We need each other to learn and grow and get well. Keep asking questions. Give yourself time to grieve the things you have to trade in- not give up. It’s trading a few things to be well. Changing how you see that will make putting aside those EOs and herbal teas much easier.”
