eating Mint or peppermint and Salicylates

We are told to stay away from mint in our toothpaste, mouthwash and gum right? Well, along with that, we encourage our members to stay away from ALL mint. Now, don’t freak out yet, you don’t have to run around checking ingredients in your food for mint now or anything lol!

In Dr St Amand’s book called “What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Fibromayalgia” Pg 87 talks about Dental mint and pg 88 talks about dietary mint. It’s worth reading these 2 pages to understand why we say this about mint! <3

If you can taste it, or mint is in the name of the food, it’s likely too much and could block your Guaifenesin and your progress on the reversal of your fibromyalgia symptoms.

Mint is one of those things SO high in salicylates that we say to not risk it! I certainly won’t risk it! I’ve been sick for TOO long to stop getting better, so I can have some yummy taste in my mouth for a minute!! Please don’t bargain with your health!!

On the upside, I have personally found that mint has become so much stronger in taste than it used to be, I find that I don’t even like it anymore! And I’m serious! I actually wonder if we get so much mint everyday of our lives that we almost build a tolerance to it and so the mint added to things has to be even stronger.

I don’t even miss mint anymore, so be encouraged, it won’t always feel like such a loss 🙂
