Talents and Fibromyalgia

Reposting this from 2013 🙂 Alot has happened since I wrote this post! Check it out! Talents and Fibromyalgia 2

Christian folks with Fibromyalgia/ Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and other debilitating illnesses still want to glorify God with our talents, the gifts He’s given us.

I LOVE to sing, leading worship was one of the things that brought me so much joy in my Christian walk. People ask me why I’m not using my gift, and I feel a sense of immediate guilt when I read/hear about discussions on using your gifts.

You know what’s AWESOME?! God is! He is so faithful, gentle, and loving, no matter how much we feel like failures, He still sees us in Christ, in the beloved, righteous in His Son. And He KNOWS our hearts and our ability or lack there of.

Fatigue has been a struggle my whole life. It’s only in the last couple years that I have gotten too sick to sing. But does that mean that God has only that one gift for me, and if I don’t use it, I am failing as a Christian? I think NOT. One of the amazing things that I love about God is that he KNOWS. EVERYTHING. This gives me so much peace.

He knows that I would if I could. And He also knew ahead of time this would happen, and He is amazing at problem solving! 😀 He has a plan for me, a use for me. And although I haven’t found my niche yet in the body, I know He will show me in His timing. I SO look forward to that day when I can know what direction He is taking me and what He would be using me for.

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

Proverbs 16:9  In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.

For now? I trust in His grace, in His mercy and the fact that He DOES have a plan for me! And I pray that He is just using me somewhere that I don’t know about 🙂

I believe that God gives us some gifts for a time or purpose, and then gives us other gifts for the new times and purposes He has for us. It’s the change and transition that is hard. There has to be a deep trust there, that He knows what’s best for me.

One day I know I will wake up, and things will be so different. God will be using me, and I never even knew it. He will give me a purpose and usefulness again. YAY!

What is God using YOU for? Have you found your niche in the body, or are in the transition stage like me?
